Thank you for visiting my Noticeboard. I'm truly impressed by the number of visitors to this site. In fact, it seems that we've formed ourselves a real little community. At the time I developed the software to operate this noticeboard, I never anticipated the amount of traffic it would be expected to handle. Moreover, it became apparent that a noticeboard format was not meeting peoples needs for interactive discussion. What we really need is an eForum.
An eForum comprises members, forums, threads, and posts. A member with a problem might create a thread. Then, someone with a solution or response could submit a post to this thread. Others may join the discussion by contributing their own posts. Assistance when it is provided is not lost, but rather becomes like a public library of helpful information. Moreover, as a database is at the heart of an eForum, additional functionality such as a search function becomes possible.
I have commenced work on developing a full featured eForum. It is a reasonably large project. To give you some idea of scale, the code that operates this noticeboard consists of several hundred lines of code. My eForum is already up to over 5000 lines of code, and it's perhaps only two-thirds complete. Until its deployment, sometime in 2005, I ask that you persevere with what we've got.
Enough said. I'll keep you up-to-date with progress. Good fortune with your musical aspirations for 2005.
Chris Dodunski.
