Intact has a strong background in web-based database systems, ranging from e-commerce to medical, manufacturing, and human resources.

NOTE: the following are REAL client projects, many of them here in the Inland Northwest. For privacy reasons, client and project names are not shown on the website.

Web Portal Implementation: Architecture and Mentorship services for a highly-skilled team, providing guidance, architecture, design, onsite training, and component development. The Portal is an effort to consolidate existing legacy apps and provide total flexibility for all user types. The client, a Fortune 50 manufacturing company, is quickly growing and needs to provide large business partners (such as The GAP, Wal Mart, and Lowe's) with rapid on-boarding, while maintaining the highest level of service. High-availability clustering, user personalization, targeted promotions, delegated administration, and campaigns were some of the key BEA investment technologies that returned maximum ROI. In addition, we developed a plan for their Enterprise Integration strategy and helped facilitate strong and honest business relationships between GE and BEA.

Web Portal and B2B Implementation: A Trailblazing effort to consolidate hundreds of applications into the Portal architecture. This major retailer has invested over $1.6B in their new IT push, of which B2B is one of the highest visibility and most important leading projects. In addition, we built the B2A portal (intranet apps) and provided expertise on a large B2C (online shopping) re-write. Set the direction for future portal projects, developing best practices and corporate-wide Portal standards, tuned production clusters, provided guidance from many years of taking projects through the full life cycle, and performed plenty of hands-on coding, designing, and debugging.

Enterprise Architecture & Common Components Design: Led the enterprise architecture effort for a team of 70+ Websphere developers, providing training and mentoring on software design, and developing corporate-wide J2EE standards and knowledge management practices. Senior Architect on many reusable component projects, including a Reporting Framework and Enterprise Role-Based security service. Worked hands-on in the design, implementation, and deployment phases, providing coding, modeling, and architecture services for the existing development team.

Sales Tracking and Projection System: Vehicle Sales Forecasting project: driving best-practices, building frameworks, refactoring, performance tuning, and reverse-engineering. Led an EAI project to link with other systems in real-time via message brokers. Worked on related J2EE systems, including eMatrix and other in-house manufacturing/engineering system. These systems run in a clustered Websphere 5.0/4.0 environment on HP-UX servers with an Oracle 9/8i database.

Manufacturing and Distribution System: Developed a distribution and production management system. The front end is in both Swing and JSP. The system is completely component-based and interfaces with their proprietary legacy system. To reduce licensing costs, we used PostGres and Jboss, both open-source solutions.

Medical Records and Billing System: Developed a complete enterprise Java application for physicians, which is secure, scalable, and database-independent. The system interfaces with insurance companies and is completely component-based. Also, helped the company develop partnerships with Sun, Sybase, and BEA.

Online Stock Trade Monitoring: Developed a system to log and monitor trades made by major Web Trading Company brokers. The logging was done using Jlog and each entry was appended to a JMS queue. A web front-end was developed to query the original messages.

International eCommerce, Shipping, and Logistics System : Worked on an Extreme Programming project to create a system for Orbus International that handles all the international e-commerce issues for domestic merchants, including language translation, door-to-door pricing, and global payment processing. The EJB backend followed the J2EE Blueprints and components were fully reuseable.

Java Conversion Project: Provided mentoring for a small team on an aggressive schedule to convert a complex applet into a standalone application. The server was Weblogic and the client had to provide secure communication to the server.

Web Payroll System: Created an online reporting system that queries live data on an AS400, as well as a Web-based purchasing/payments application that interfaces provides remote check printing. Designed and implemented an online timesheet system that provides direct access to PeopleSoft payroll data in DB2.

Banking Collaboration Software: Designed and mentored an in-house team to develop a web-based idea-tracking system. The backend uses Java to integrate Lotus Domino with their Oracle databases, allows web-based email syndication, and generates HTML reports.

Manufacturing, Distribution, and Retail Sales System: Provided project analysis, system design, and mentoring for a JDEdwards to handheld PC integration project. Developed a messaging application that allows salespeople to enter orders on custom Palm devices and asynchronously interface with the new system.

Internet Chat Relay System: Enhanced an applet-based whiteboard system that allows terminally ill children to chat with one another. The Starkids application was a pro bono effort that won a Lotus Beacon Award from IBM.

Legacy C++ and Firmware Development: Reverse-engineered an undocumented, legacy C++ application for easier maintainability. Wrote firmware applications for custom handhelds in C/assembler and peformed hardware-level debugging.
