My name is Eugene Kononov, I am a 39-year-old software engineer. I live in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA. I am originally from Russia, and I’ve lived in the U.S. since 1993. I am currently working as a Java Developer for Wachovia Bank. I graduated from Western New England College in 1997 with a B.S. in Computer Science (with honors).
My interests and research topics (I wish they were my primary work) include nonlinear dynamics, chaos theory, and computational finance. I created VRA software to use it for analysis of financial time series (mainly stock indexes). An additional purpose of VRA is to popularize the use of recurrence plots for dynamical systems analysis.
VRA is written in C++ using "Borland C++ Builder 3.0, Professional Edition" compiler and consists of approximately 50,000 lines of the (mostly) original code. The first version has been released in 1996 and VRA has been evolving ever since. I make new releases with new functionality and enhancements every 6 months or so.
